Regional Commissioner Position – Call for Nominations

In compliance with AYSO National Rules and Regulations, the Regional Board of Directors of AYSO Region 73 announces the opening of the application period for the position of Regional Commissioner (RC).

The RC role requires an average time commitment of 25–30 hours per week. During the primary and secondary programs, the hours may increase depending on program needs, meetings, and special events. Region 73 works closely with the City of Bakersfield Recreation and Parks Department to maintain the Bakersfield Sports Village Soccer Fields facilities.

Qualifications

To nominate yourself or be nominated, you should:

• Preferably be a current or past Regional Board Member.

• Be an AYSO registered volunteer in good standing with AYSO and Region 73.

• Be a strong communicator and fully understand AYSO’s Mission and Vision.

Nomination and Election Process

• Open nominations are now being accepted.

• Candidates will be reviewed by the Nominating Committee (NC).

• After the nomination period closes, the NC will present the list of eligible candidates to the Regional Board.

• The Regional Board will then conduct an election to select the next RC.

The current RC term ends on April 30, 2026. The successful candidate will serve as RC‑Elect until the current term expires or an agreed‑upon transition date.

Timeline and Election Meeting

• Nomination period closes: March 20, 2026

• Anticipated Board vote: by March 24, 2026

• Voting members: RC, CVPA, RR, RCA, RRA, RSD, and RT in place at the time nominations opened

The NC will:

• Verify each candidate’s eligibility.

• Confirm each candidate is an AYSO volunteer in good standing.

The voting members of the Regional Board will, by majority vote, nominate an RC. That nomination will then be forwarded to the Area Director and Section Director. Upon their acceptance, the RC nomination is forwarded to the AYSO National Board of Directors for final election.
