AYSO Region 73 Volunteer Registration
Volunteers are the heartbeat of AYSO!
Help us bring world-class youth soccer programs to our community and enrich children's lives. Please remember to treat all volunteers with respect as we work together to make our region even better.
Required Training for All Volunteers
Before participating in any AYSO events, every volunteer must complete the following:
AYSO Safe Haven Training
Background Check (via Sterling Volunteers — not required for volunteers under 18)*¹
AB 506 Background Check / Live Scan (Mandatory for all California volunteers as of Jan 1, 2022)*²
SafeSport Training (Mandatory as of Jan 1, 2022)*³
Job-Specific Training (e.g., team manager, coach, referee, etc.)
Parts of these trainings are offered online through eTrainU, while others may be held in person. Note that signing up for a role (e.g., assistant coach) does not make you certified until all required training is complete.

¹ Background Check (Sterling Volunteers)
After submitting your volunteer application in your Sports Connect Account, you’ll receive an email from Sterling Volunteers. Follow the instructions to complete the check. Returning volunteers must renew when their risk status expires.
Youth volunteers (under 18) are exempt.
² AB 506 / Livescan Fingerprinting
California law requires Livescan fingerprinting for all youth sports volunteers.
AYSO partners with ApplicantServices.com to streamline the process for $25.
Livescans completed for other organizations do not transfer.
This is a one-time requirement unless your AYSO membership lapses.
Region 73 volunteers can use Cali RLSNS to complete Livescan services directly through an approved local provider — billed to Region 73.
³ SafeSport Training
California mandates SafeSport training for anyone working with youth sports.
If you already have valid SafeSport certification (from USSF/CalSouth), it’s acceptable for AYSO.
