Team Parent Duties

  • Pictures (Fall only)

    • Distribute picture packets.

    • Remind families of picture day details.

  • Snacks and communication

    • Create a snack schedule and ask about allergies.

    • Help the coach by reminding parents to cheer players and let coaches coach.

    • Promote a positive sideline at all times.

  • Uniforms

    • Help the coach hand out uniforms using the uniform info sheet.

    • Line players up smallest to largest when distributing; uniforms are numbered by size.

  • Field and equipment

    • Make sure the area is clean after every game and practice.

      • Ask the snack family to bring a trash bag.

    • Saturday games:

      • First teams of the day: put up nets and U6/U8 goal posts.

      • Last teams of the day: take down nets and goal posts after your game.

  • Game preparation and banners

    • Help the coach fill out lineup cards before each game.

    • For team banners (Fall):

      • No player last names or jersey numbers (for safety).

      • Clearly display Region 73 and your sponsor name.

  • Volunteers and postseason eligibility

    • Help the coach find team volunteers (referees, team helpers, etc.).

    • Help track referee points so your team can qualify for region playoffs.

  • End‑of‑season items (optional)

    • Take a team vote about trophies and collect money if the team decides to purchase them.

    • Organize an end‑of‑season party (some sponsors offer discounts).

    • Coordinate a coach gift to thank them for volunteering.

  • Team culture

    • Help keep practices and games positive, even when results are not what the team hopes for.

    • Focus on fun, learning, and team building.

    • Encourage parents to support the coach; they already have a big task with coaching and communication.

    • The Region 73 Board is always available to help.

Photos and Social Media

Encourage families to take photos and capture the fun:

  • Pre‑season practices

  • Opening Ceremony (Fall only)

  • Games, huddles, high‑fives, coach–player interactions

  • Post‑season parties, trophies, tunnels, and fun activities

Share your photos:

  • Email great photos with a short caption to [email protected] so we can post them on our Facebook page.

  • Share photos on your team website as well.

Helpful Information

  • Team Central:

    • Many team resources are available on our website under Team Central at AYSO73.org.

  • Sponsorships:

    • A $300 sponsorship payment and sponsorship form are due three weeks before the end‑of‑season games (at the latest).

  • Trophies and parties:

    • Call local pizza places early in the season and ask about “AYSO trophy party” deals.

    • Some restaurants offer free pizza and drinks for AYSO kids during trophy parties.

    • These locations fill up quickly, so booking early is recommended.
